Hello,
I am sorry that I missed the visitation for Mr. Barnett. I hadn't heard of his passing. My father, Carroll Anderson, had taught with Mr. Barnett, and he was also my metals shop teacher in high school. We also owned dogs (half shepherd, fourth husky, fourth wolf) that were brother and sister, and I always got a kick out of seeing him come to school with his arms all chewed up and bloody from "playing" with his puppy. I really enjoyed taking his classes, and his way with kids. He was one of the "old school" teachers that would joke and horse around with students and let us get away with stuff that a lot of the more "to the letter" teachers wouldn't. There aren't enough teachers like him around anymore, and that's a shame. He was one of my favorite teachers.
Best Regards,
Paul Anderson,
Kellogg

Sorry for your loss. Rodney was my drivers ed teacher in 1965 (mapping miles from town to town and finally getting to drive a car with 4 other girls, we never got to leave town but the boys got to drive all the way to Atlanta and back) and our Senior class sponsor for the class of 1968 in La Plata Mo. He also taught industrial arts with my brothers Junior and Jerald Brokaw. I lived behind Leland and Faye in town for 10 years and then moved to the country, becoming neighbors by property lines. Every time we would meet we had a good visit.

I had Mr Barnett for electronics in 81-82. Many fond memories. Timeless photo. I would say he was one of my favorite teachers from those years. I think I caught the fix it bug from him. R.I.P.

I was so sorry to learn of Rod's passing. He was a wonderful colleague and friend. Lots of wonderful memories in Newton (Newton HS, Izaak Walton dinners), Missouri (fishing with Rod and Mike and staying at his parents home). I always admired the fact that he could build or fix anything - I always remember his laugh and smile - great sense of humor and prankster.
All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Barnett was my teacher from 1989-92. He was my favorite teacher I ever had. He taught me many things I still use every day. I consider him one of the few teachers that truly helped shape my life. He was a good man and I always enjoyed running into him after I graduated. R.I.P. Sir, you will be missed.

Rod was my favorite teacher at NHS. He had my utmost respect.I learned a lot of things that have not been forgotten (like most of school) over the 33 years. He had a calm way of explaining how things work and took the time to make sure it sank in. I ended up helping him teach others in the class. We had a lot of fun in his class, but we also got an education in electricity & electronics.
If you didn't have Mr Barnett, you missed out!
God bless.
