Darwin, 89, formerly of Newton, passed from this life on Thursday morning, March 3, 2016, at his home in Moberly, MO. Darwin Stoner, was born May 14, 1926, near Prairie City, IA, the son of William Jennings and Grace Dell (Brown) Stoner. He attended Prairie City schools. Darwin served his country with the US Air Force, during World War II, spending time in Guam and Saipan. On September 14, 1947, Darwin was united in marriage with Dorothy Bowie at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines. For over thirty years he was employed by the Maytag Company in Newton. After retiring, he worked at local motels in the Newton area, moving to Moberly, Missouri in 1995. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Darwin was a past member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. Darwin is survived by his wife Dorothy; his sons: David Stoner, Garry (Robin) Stoner and Larry (Shawn) Stoner; daughter, Nancy (Tom) Sutphin; 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Bonnie Northcutt; his son, DeWayne Stoner on March 15, 2013; a great-granddaughter, Payton True Brauch; sisters: Arlene Willoughby, Martha Wright, Joreen Seufert, Grace Braaksma and Rozella Edgar; and his brothers: Jack and Raymond Stoner and Michael McCoy.
