Obituary of Edward H. Claseman

Edward H. Claseman, the son of John F. and Mary (Determan) Claseman, was born May 4, 1924 in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Ed was raised on the family farm and started working the farm with his dad at a very early age.
On May 18, 1949, Ed was united in marriage with Rosalie C. Miller at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Ed worked as a telephone contractor for Evan’s Construction from 1948 until 1962. He then worked as a construction supervisor for the United Telephone Company from 1962 thru 1972 when he started his own company, C & E Inc. and worked until his retirement in 1989.
Ed enjoyed playing cards, traveling to antique tractor and steam engine shows and coffee time with his buddies at Hardee’s, Hy-Vee or wherever coffee was being served. He and Rosalie enjoyed traveling to Arizona for 12 winters. Ed was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
Ed died on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Newton Village Care Center in Newton, Iowa. He was 91 years old. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, and his seven sisters.
Those left to honor Ed’s memory include his wife of 66 years, Rosalie, of Newton, IA; his children, Dennis Claseman, Gary (Darla) Claseman, Diane (David) Larson, David (Jacque) Claseman, Susan Claseman, Bonnie (Brad) Vos all of Newton, IA; his seven grandchildren: Carrie (Eric) James, Dr. Stephanie (Matt) Timm, Angie Larson, Cory Claseman (Stefanie Trout), Andrew (Amanda) Claseman, Jaycie Vos, Amy Vos and a special nephew, Jerome Broder.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 17th at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The family will greet friends on Thursday morning from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services have been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be designated in Ed's name and may be left at the church or at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
