Just learned of Aunt Maryś passing, she was a delightful lady and I thoroughly enjoyed the times I got to visit with her, especially as an adult. My mother Jean (Martha McGilvrey Evans´ daughter) always looked forward to the ´round robin´ letters and her conversations with both Mary and Sarah. She brightened the spaces she inhabited and will be missed.

I shared an office with Mary at the State Historical Society of Iowa in Des Moines from 1980 to 1983 and continued as her colleague until 1995 although I moved to the Iowa City office.
I have several pieces of her artwork which I enjoy daily. She was a talented artist and a kind and loving woman. She enriched the lives she touched.
Sorry that this is delayed. Word of her passing just reached me.

She was a great art teacher. I used to help her clean up brushes and other supplies when she taught at Lincoln Elementary. I still remember some of the neat projects we did. She touched and molded many young lives. RIP

Sorry to hear this news. I had the privilege of working with Mary at the State Historical Society of Iowa. She was a warm, thoughtful, and dedicated worker as well as an accomplished (and endearingly modest) artist.

Mary was a very positive person. I enjoyed her membership in Delta Kappa Gamma and Jasper County Retired School Personnel. She will be greatly missed.
