Obituary of Miriam Lucille Brock

Miriam Lucille "Hank" Brock, the daughter of Harold Edwin and Ethel Mae (High) Hankins, was born December 18, 1923, in Bayard, IA. She graduated from Newton Senior High School with the class of 1941.
In September of 1947, Miriam was united in marriage with Ragan Dales Brock at the Little Brown Church in Nassau, IA. Miriam worked for the Maytag Company as a Secretary and also at the Deaton museum. Miriam was a dedicated farm wife. She loved spending time with her grandsons. She enjoyed cooking and baking as well as knitting, crocheting, antiquing, and gardening. Miriam was a member of the Happy Hookers knitting club and was part of a large group of friends who could raise the roof of a house with their laughter and hilarity called the Lunar Group.
Miriam died Monday, May 4, 2015 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was 91 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ragan.
Those left to honor Miriam's memory included her sons, Dan (Bobbie Ney) of Iowa City, IA; Tom (Maureen Brennan) of McLean, VA and Joe (Kristin) of Monroe, IA and her five grandsons, Ezra, Ben, Joseph, Ragan and Will.
Per Miriam's wishes, no services will be held. Memorials may be made in her name to the Jasper Community Fund c/o Nature Center Project P.O. Box 1332 Newton, IA 50208 or may be left at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton.
