Obituary of Joel Henry Ward

Joel H. Ward, passed away Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015, at his home in Newton. Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. Funeral services for Joel, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Foursquare Church in Newton. A visitation with the family will be held Monday, 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Joel’s family, in his name. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery. Joel Henry Ward, 41, the son of Alfred H. and Mary Pat (Rinehart) Ward, was born August 27, 1973, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1991. On May 22, 1993, Joel was united in marriage with Angel Renee Schultz. He and Angel later divorced, but remained close friends. As a child, he attended the Foursquare Church in Newton. He enjoyed collecting star war artifacts, acting and singing in several local musicals. As an adult, he spent time on his computer with his Facebook friends and making videos for YouTube. Joel was very creative and was an artist. He had a kind and generous helping heart. He was employed by Giovanni’s, Sizzling Sams, Dominos, Golden Coral and helped his brothers in construction. Joel was preceded in death by his Grandma Delia Blessing and Grandma Elsie Green. Those left to honor Joel’s memory include his parents: Al and Pat Ward; his brothers: Dan Ward (Mary Miller), Dave (Mindy) Ward, Darin (Leigh) Ward and John (Tammy) Ward; his nieces and nephews: Heather, Amanda, Nicole; Ciara, Maddison, Jarid, Brett and Tanner; his aunts and uncles: Shirley & Frank Lupfer, Linda McNew, Floyd McNew, Velma Robbins, Zelma & Dan Gibson, Barbara & Dan Green, Judy & Willie Ward, and Suzanne & Arnold Ward; his beloved cat: Bill Clinton; many cousins; and many friends. . .
