Obituary of Mary Frances Stabenow

Mary Frances Stabenow, the daughter of Teddie Ray and Ruby Mae Thomson, was born January 11, 1944 in Waldron, AK. Following graduation, Mary worked in retail sales at Yellow Front Surplus Stores and Target and then in managerial roles for different hotels.
On October 10, 1961, Mary was united in marriage with Robert Stabenow in Marshalltown, Iowa. Together they enjoyed bowling and fishing. Mary was a member of the Newton Church of the Way.
Mary died on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at her home in Newton. She was 71 years old. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her sister.
Those left to honor Mary's memory include her husband, Robert Stabenow of Newton; her sons, Robert T. (Sara) Stabenow of Imperial Beach, CA and Edward L. Stabenow of Las Vegas, NV; her daughters, Sandra J. (John) Defrates of San Marcos, CA and Ruby A. (Mike) Cohen of Spanaway, WA; her nine grandchildren and her brother, Terry Cooklin.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Newton Church of the Way. Memorials may be designated to any Children's Hospital.
