Obituary of Joseph John Gobb

Joseph John Gobb, the son of Joseph and Margaret Mary (Bernath) Gobb, was born October 4, 1941 in Detroit, MI. Joe was married to Judy Sutphin. To this union were born, Milissa Kay Kennedy of Des Moines; Melinda Sue Gobb of Newton; and Timothy Shawn Gobb of Des Moines and Thearsa Gobb of Newton. Joe later married Sandra Sue Eaton. To this union were born, Rebecca Sue Klingston of Des Moines and Jolinda Sue (David) Linkous of Christiansburg, VA. Joe worked as a baker at Stocktons and Easters Super Value in Newton for many years. After he retired, fishing became his career and baking a hobby. Joe died on Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA. He was 73 years old. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Those left to honor Joe’s memory include his children; his eleven grandchildren; his eight great grandchildren; his brother, Lawrence William (Shirley) Gobb of Davenport and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 27, 2015, 1:30 p.m. at the Newton V.F.W. Memorials may be designated in Joe’s name and may be left at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
