Obituary of Carroll Eugene Kingery

Carroll E. Kingery, 78, passed away Tuesday morning, January 20, 2015, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, under the care of Skiff Hospice.
Funeral services for Carroll will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. Larry Peterson, Chaplain at Skiff Medical Center, conducting the services. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials in Carroll’s name, are being designated to Skiff Hospice. Burial will be in the Veteran’s Section at Newton Union Cemetery.
Carroll Eugene Kingery, the son of James F. and Fern Kingery, was born September 1, 1936, in Knoxville, Iowa. He was a Newton High School graduate, Class of 1954. Carroll was a twenty year veteran, and had served his country from 1955, with the US Navy, retiring in 1977 from the US Air Force, during the Vietnam War. He had also lived in Illinois, Nebraska, California, New York, Germany and Texas.
On April 3, 1958, Carroll was united in marriage with Janet McEwen in Monroe. He was also a computer tech in Des Moines, and worked at Maytag, Newton Daily News and worked for Judge Judy. He had devoted his life to his family, and was a member of the Newton American Legion Post #111. He enjoyed bowling, going to the casino’s, and went on the last JASPER COUNTY FREEDOM FLIGHT (2013) to Washington DC.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy; and two brothers-in-law.
Those left to honor Carroll’s memory include his wife Janet; his sons: Larry Kingery (Cynthia) and Dustin Kingery (Samantha Zeien); his four grandchildren: Augie, Titus, Ben and Becca; his sister Leola Benac; a sister-in-law Kimberly Illingworth; nieces, nephews and cousins; and his many friends and neighbors.
