Obituary of Lucien Dean Foster

Lucien (Lou) Dean Foster, 87, passed away on November 24, 2014 in the hospice wing of the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Lou was born on August 16, 1927 to Juanita and Leo Foster in Granite City, Illinois. When he was 11 years, his family moved to Alton, Illinois. He graduated from Alton High School and attended Shurtliff College. Lou was stationed in Korea during WWII.
After serving in the military, Lou went on the road, playing music from Canada to Missouri and North Dakota to West Virginia and all states in between. He played 7 instruments and sang vocals. He entertained at Gordon Lodge in Door County, Wisconsin for 20 years. After retiring in Newton, he volunteered in nursing homes by playing keyboards and singing. He played 6 days a week at Park Centre for the last 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia. He is survived by his children, Mike (Carol) Hodge, Bridgeton, Mo; Madelynne (Tom) Cruddas, Palm Bay, FL; Stephanie (Karl) Allen, Dallas, TX; Joanne (Dave) Serpa, Sonora, CA; Deborah Morgan, Des Moines; Diana (Roger) Maynard, Troy, MO; Lucia Foster, San Diego, CA; Bradley (Cindi) Foster, O’Fallon, MO and his sister, Vivien (Ralph) VonBergen of Alton, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, December 2nd, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
