Obituary of Jeffrey Ray Barton

Jeffrey R. Barton Newton Memorial services for Jeff, will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton. Friends are invited to a fellowship time and lunch at the church, with the family, following the services. A private burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials have been designated in Jeff's name to Congregational United Church of Christ. Jeffrey Ray Barton, 59, the son of Donald and Helen (Carrier) Barton, was born June 20, 1952, in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1970. He had served his country with the US Army, during the Vietnam War. Over the years, Jeff has lived in Newton, Des Moines and Minnesota. He was self-employed with a lawn service. Jeff had devoted his life to his friends and family, and enjoyed playing golf. Jeff died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Those left to honor the memory of Jeff's include his parents Don and Helen Barton of Newton; his brother Bruce (Pam) Barton of Boca Raton, Florida; nephews: Trevor Barton and Colby Barton; several cousins including: Gary (Diane) Simpson and Sondi (Duane) Huseboe; and many friends.
