Obituary of Lois L. Messamaker

Lois L. Messamaker Private Family Funeral Services for Lois were held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the Newton Union Cemetery. The Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, were entrusted with the arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, memorials in Lois' name are being designated to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid-Iowa Chapter. Lois L. Messamaker, 91, the daughter of Ernest Lee and Winnie Bessie (Luddington) Simpson, was born July 1, 1919, in Union County, Iowa. A longtime resident of Jasper County, she graduated from the Newton Senior High School. On August 18, 1942, Lois was united in marriage with Cornelius (Butch) Messamaker in Kirksville, Missouri. She devoted her life to her husband and family; and enjoyed the out doors, gardening, camping, cross stitch and embroidering. Lois died on Thursday evening, September 16, 2010, at Careage of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Butch on Aug. 25, 1995; her brother Isaac; and two sisters: Wilma and Florence. Those left to honor Lois' memory include her many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and her many friends and old neighbors. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010.
