I was saddened this past weekend to learn of Marvin’s passing. I remember going over to Marvin & Dena’s house as a kid, running up and down the stairs, poking around in the garage. I remember their visits to the cabin at the lake where they’d come water skiing with us. Maybe we even did a little fishing, though I don’t remember catching anything but Blue Gill out of that little lake. I do remember eating many S’mores around the fire below the cabin. I still remember the old Dutch sailor’s knot trick that he (and perhaps Dena’s dad) taught me. I wish we could have done that sort of thing more. And I wish I could have learned more about all the great life skills Marvin had to offer. He and Dena raised such a beautiful family and they were always so welcoming. He will be sorely missed. But we know where he'll be, waiting for us roasting marshmallows next to the heavenly campfire. Godspeed, Marvin.
