Jane gave us many sweet memories since becoming neighbors 20 years ago and we are so grateful to have been touched by her love and life. Brian has known Jane most of his life, as half of “Mike and Ike” which she called him and his brother, Bill, when they would come into Fennema's store as kids. When we put an offer on our house she asked him if he was Mike or Ike? He didn’t know, she was sure he was Ike, and we are pretty sure she had a role in picking her new neighbors. We had many wonderful times with her out on the patio (as you know, it's a special patio) and will treasure those memories. She loved to cook and we were privy to many of her catering goodies over the years. She had high standards, and was always seeking to perfect a recipe. We were willing taste testers and with our 3 growing boys, Drew, David and Evan, no food went to waste. Our boys have known Jane all their lives. She always encouraged them to play in her backyard, and I think that brought her joy. She always seemed to find a tasks for them to do, to teach them the value of work. I was lucky to have known her as a P.E.O. sister. So grateful that she got me involved in such a wonderful organization in which she's been an active member in for 70+ years! Her commitment to our community is inspiring, and the pride she had for our little town of Monroe is evident to so many of us. She has given us many blessings over the years, our hearts are full, and she will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with you Karla & Dave and Mark & Amy! ~ Wendy & Brian Johnson
