V. Joyce Rabedeaux, 90, was the daughter of Roy and Verna (Maxson) Frauenhoz. She was born March 21, 1930, in Iowa City. She was a graduate of the Osceola High School and attended the University of Iowa and Drake University, graduating from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1951. She was employed in different nursing positions at the University of Iowa Hospital and continued in several other nursing positions over the years.

On June 16, 1951, Joyce was united in marriage with Richard Rabedeaux in Iowa City. They would move to the Newton area in 1957, where she would be active in the community as a member and as a volunteer. With Newton schools, Newton Public Library-Foundation Board and Friends of the Library, AWAKE program, St. Stephens Church, serving on the Vestry at the church, Altor Guild, St. Martha's Guild, Skiff Hospital Auxiliary Board, TTT Chapter C.V. and PEO-AO. She loved music, historical books, gardening and time spent with family and friends

Joyce, 90, died Saturday evening, May 2, 2020, at Park Centre Health Care. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to St. Stephen's Church Altar Guild and Newton Library.

Joyce is survived by her son Steve (Cindy) Rabedeaux, their children and grandchildren: Jen (Gabe) Greener with Clara and Austin, Michelle (Ryan) Wall with Madelyn, and Brad Rabedeaux; her daughter Jolie (Kurt) Mouton, their children: Rob (Mary Kate) Mouton and Alexa Mouton. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public visitation or memorial at this time.
