Larry A. Weter
Larry passed away on Thursday evening, January 2, 2020, in Altoona.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be at a later date, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who are entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Larry's Family, or to a charity of your choosing.
Larry Adrian Weter, 67, was born May 10, 1952, in Newton, the son of Clarence and Gladys (Slack) Weter. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1971. He had a big heart and was always a hard worker. He had lived in the Sully, Lynnville and Newton areas, and managed the Pester Derby Station in Newton, for ten years. He enjoyed the great outdoors, and fishing at local lakes was his favorite. He also enjoyed painting cars, watching TV on his smart TV, playing solitaire on the computer, to pass the time, and working at the Coast-to-Coast store in their small engine department. He later owned and operated Larry Small Engine Repair in Newton. He had participated on the Jasper County Fair Board as a horse superintendent.
Larry is survived by his sons: Ben A. DeWitt, Justin (Emilie) Weter and Travis Weter; a daughter Lindsey Weter; his twelve grandchildren; his sister Mary Jane Tripp; and his many good neighbors and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Laci Ann Weter; and sisters: Nancy Dole and Martha Davison.
