Obituary of Jean A. Stuart

Jean A. Stuart, the daughter of Hiram Burton and Bessie Lillian (Bogard) Brown, was born Aug. 17, 1924. She graduated from the Grinnell Senior High School.
Memorial Services for Jean will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2019, at Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, conducted by Chaplain Nick Yancey, Hospice of the Midwest. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to the Nelson Manor Activity Fund, in Jean's name. Visitation with the family will be that Friday, 12:30 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
On June 6, 1943, Jean was united in marriage with Earl Keith Stuart in Lancaster, Mo. She devoted her life to her husband and family. Jean was a past member of the Newton Moose Lodge and was a 4-H leader for the Jolly Workers 4-H Club. Jean loved her family very much. She enjoyed interacting with her family through cooking and baking pies and cookies, dancing, camping, fishing, crafts and sewing. She and Keith enjoyed wintering in McAllen, Texas for 26 years.
Jean died on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at Nelson Manor in Newton. She was 95 years old. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith; a son in infancy, Lee O'Brian; a brother, Raymond Brown; a sister, Phyllis Breneman; son-in-law, Morris Van Baale; and a grandson-in-law Todd Rhoden.
Those left to honor Jean's memory include her daughter, Patricia Joyce Van Baale of Newton; her sons: Evan Keith (Jill) Stuart of Lenexa, Kan. and Dale James Stuart (Barb Woodard) of Des Moines; her 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and three step great-great grandchildren.
