Dean went home to be with his Savior on Monday afternoon, October 22, 2018, at Unity Point, Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2018, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Newton. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at the church. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, are entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in Dean's name to St. Luke United Methodist Church or to his family.
Charles Dean Diamond, 85, the son of Charles Franklin and Nellie (Hysell) Diamond was born May 20, 1933, near Allerton, Iowa. Dean served his country with the US Army, 1954 ~ 1962, during the Korean Conflict.
On August 7, 1954, Dean was united in marriage to Doris Ann Knight. He was employed by Martin Marietta Materials for several years, and later by Larchwood's Floral and Hendricksons Floral, in Newton. Dean was a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, a past Mason and an officer for the State Square and Round Dancing Association. Dean enjoyed camping, square dancing, and his coffee buddies at Hy-Vee.
Dean is survived by his wife Doris; daughters: Becky (Leonard) Woody and Pam (Dennis) Smith, both of Newton; his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother Dale Diamond in Arizona; and many good neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters in infancy; and his two brothers, two sisters; and his dog Dandy.
