Pop was a colorful character. Lessons from my father:
1. Never buy anything unless it’s on sale
2. Take a walk every day, preferably after dinner
3. It’s good to be warm
4. Take time to read and watch the rain, both are better in a lawn chair in the garage
5. Be kind to kids and people older than you
6. Manners!
7. Try your best, and if you don’t win that day, acknowledge that you weren’t the best that day and that someone else was. Then practice to win next time.
8. Every day is better with ice cream and chocolate sauce, and casseroles can be considered fine dining.
9. Music feeds the soul — all kinds of music.
10. If something is important to you, work for it, stand for it, fight for it.
