Obituary of Caroll Eugene Thompson

Caroll Thompson, the son of Willard and Pauline (Smith) Thompson was born September 9, 1943 in Newton, Iowa.  He attended Newton schools.  Caroll served his country in the United States Navy.  Following his time in the service, he worked as a journeyman electrician across the United States, Central America and Europe.  He spent a few summers in Eagle Alaska while he was building a school and panning for gold.  Caroll enjoyed arrowhead hunting, fishing hunting and playing his guitar.  Caroll was a longtime member of the Izaak Walton League and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Caroll died on Monday, June 18, 2018 in Kellogg, Iowa.  He was 74 years old.  Caroll was preceded indeath by his parents; his brother, Vernon Thompson, his sister, Rosalee Thompson and a baby brother in infancy.

Those left to honor Caroll’s memory include his step daughter, Heather McFadden of Grinnell, Iowa; his brother, Perry (Mary) Thompson of Newton, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton.  The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be designated to the Izaak Walton League or the St. Labre Indian School.
