Funeral Services for Aletha, will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Dottie Black of the Foursquare Church conducting the services. Friends may call at the funeral home 6:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, September 29. Burial will be at the Sugar Grove (Metz) Cemetery, rural Newton. In lieu of flowers memorials in Aletha’s name have been designatedto: Foursquare Church or Skiff Hospice. Aletha Lucille Woody, 93, the daughter of Jefferson Murray Walker and Leona Mae (Hitchler) Walker, was born August 25, 1921, in Percy, Iowa, and she attended rural schools. On October 3, 1942, Aletha was united in marriage with Maurice Leonard Woody in Princeton, Missouri. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Newton Foursquare Church. Aletha died Thursday evening, September 25, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, under the care of Skiff Hospice, and was preceded in death by her parents; husband Maurice on March 9, 1992; her four brothers and three sisters. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Those left to honor Aletha’s memory include her son Leonard L. Woody (Becky) of Newton; her three daughters: Lois L. (Glenn) Shunk of Newton, Leona M. (John) Metz of Omaha, NE and LaVonne E. (Dan) Perkins of Newton; her eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and nine great-great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her friends.
