Naomi June Houston, 67, of Newton, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services for Naomi will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 26, at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation with the family will be Friday, 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., service time, at the funeral home. Memorials are being designated in Naomi's name, and may be left at the funeral home. Naomi, the daughter of John Russell and Evelyn Emma (Barger) Houston, was born November 29, 1945, in Des Moines. She was a high school graduate and had received her CNA Certificate. A longtime resident of the Jasper County area, she was employed as a CNA at Skiff Medical Center 15 years, Calvin Community in Des Moines for 12 years and Baxter Health Care for 12 years. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, and and loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Naomi had attended the Bondurant Federated Church, loved watching TV, crossword searches, and her junk food. Naomi was a kind and warm hearted lady, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Those left to honor Naomi's memory include her daughter Jennifer Bell and Matthew of Newton; her grandchildren: Caleb Michael and Olivia Marie; her brothers and sisters: Oliver Houston & Shirley of Indianola, Nonnie Houston & Joann of Winterset, Russell Houston & Sharon of Indianola, Johnnie Houston & Daisy of Thayer, Elsie Bell & Alen of Ankeny, Daisy Hakes of Ankeny, Emma Weston & Johnnie of Gordon, NE, Linda Russell & Everett of Newton and Mary Lowe & Dean of Indianola; 37 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Kathrine Wright and Ethel Potter; and a brother-in-law Denny Hakes.
