Geneva Trost

Geneva, 90, went home to be with her Savior on March 16, 2018, at Park Centre Health Care in Newton.

A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. Visitation will be 5p.m. until 7p.m., Tuesday, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, memorials may be designated in Geneva's honor to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary.

Geneva Trost was born March 29, 1927, in Bagley, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Luella (Girard) Anderson. She moved to Des Moines, where she was employed by Bankers Life.

On February 24, 1957, Geneva was united in marriage with Edgar B. Trost, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson, Iowa. She and Ed were two of the founding/charter members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. She served on the City Planning and Zoning Commission for 20 years and served on the Jasper County Board of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Geneva was very active in her church, a member and on the board of the League of Women Voters of Newton, member of the Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the hospital gift shop.

Geneva is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dr. Gregory and Karen Trost of Omaha; her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Patrick Reding of Indianola; her five grandchildren: Bradley (Kara) Trost, Mark Trost, Alyssa, Katelyn and Brittney Reding; and her many good neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 61 years, Ed, on February 20, 2018; a sister Wilma in infancy and a sister Elaine McMichael.
