William A. Hoover William "Bill" passed from this life on Wednesday evening, January 25, 2017, at his home in Newton. William Albert Hoover, 101, was born August 17, 1915, in Mitchellville. The son on Perl E. and Bertha B. (Downs) Hoover, he was a high school graduate. Bill served his country with the US Army during World War II On June 3, 1951, Bill was united in marriage with Mary L. Weyers at the Congregational United Church of Christ. He was employed at Schlotfeldt Garage, for many years, retiring in 1980 from Maytag as a custodial supervisor. Bill had devoted his life to his wife and family. Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary; his son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Edith Hoover of Newton and son Kim Hoover of Newton; one granddaughter Emma (Gene) Morris and a great-granddaughter Tiffany Morris; and his many good neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his four sisters; and six brothers. A time of remembrance is 2pm until 3:30pm, Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Private family burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Mary’s name, in honor of Bill.
