William Ken Wisgerhof, the son of W. Glenn and Tenny (Kolfscholten) Wisgerhof, was born April 19, 1939, in Newton, Iowa. Ken graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1957. He then went on the get his degree in Business and Banking from Colorado College. Ken served his country in the United States Army. He was partner and owner of the Wisgerhof Real Estate and Insurance Company for many years. On February 22, 1991, Ken was united in marriage with Barb Carpenter in Newton, Iowa. Ken was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and going to auctions. Ken was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed his time and past involvement with the Newton Rotary, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Ken died on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home in Newton. He was 77 years old. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kay Wisgerhof. Those left to honor Ken’s memory include his wife, Barb, of Newton; his son, Scott (Melinda) Wisgerhof of White Bear Township, MN; his daughter, Heather (Mike) Saunders of North Liberty, IA; his step son, Jason Elliott of Newton; his step daughters, Sarah Miller and Lindsey Slycord of Newton; his grandchildren, Reed Wisgerhof, Rory Wisgerhof, Rachael Saunders, Ella Saunders; his nine step grandchildren and his brother, Kirk Wisgerhof. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. The family will greet friends following the service during lunch at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Community Heights Alliance Church or the Newton Izaak Walton League and may be left at the church or at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
