Max A. Ehler Max of rural Kellogg, passed from this life on Thursday evening, June 23, 2016, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Max August Ehler, 82, was born December 11, 1933, near Mariposa Township, the son of Elmer Henry and Birdie Eula (Stacy) Ehler. He was a graduate of the Kellogg Senior High, Class of 1952. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, and was a member of their R.O.T.C. Max was a lifelong resident of the Jasper County area, farming his entire life. Max was a longtime member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau. He was also employed by Maytag, in payroll and Winpower in the engineering department, both in Newton. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Max is survived by his three brothers: Richard (Sylvia Dean) Ehler, Martin Ehler and Henry (Janis F.) Ehler; his many nieces and nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one niece, one nephew, a great niece and a great nephew. A time of remembrance and the funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Max's name with his family or a charity of your choosing.
