Biography
Becky Jo Myrick, 64, was born in Newton, Iowa, on September 16, 1947. She was a great 2nd Wedding Anniversary gift to her parents, O.T. and Betty (Snook) Scott. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School, and later attended one year at Grandview College in Des Moines. Becky went home on Sunday, January 22, 2012, after a brief illness.
Becky was a directory assistance operator for 25 years, starting in Iowa, on to Oregon and Arizona and full circle back to Iowa. She came home to be close to her family. Family was a big part of Becky's life from the time she was a child. She loved any time spent with family and close friends.
Becky had an infectious grin and always enjoyed a good laugh. She prided herself on having an off- beat sense of humor. To know Becky was to know that she would tell it like it is. She always let you know how she felt about things. Her candid manner will be greatly missed by those who love her.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; Aunts and Uncles.
Those left to honor her memory are her two sons, John Myrick of Boone and David Myrick of Tomball, TX. John's wife, Erika, Becky's grandson, Dakota Scott Myrick and his wife Amber. Dakota is now serving in the U.S. Marines of which Becky was mighty proud. Also her sister Cathy Scott Sellers and brother-in-law David Sellers of Garland, TX, Her favorite nephew, Scott VerSteeg and his wife Gina. And her bestest buddy, great nephew, Nicholas Andrew VerSteeg.
She also will be remembered with much love by her remaining Aunts and Uncles and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held this Thursday, January 26th at 1:30 P.M., at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
Being that Becky was an avid reader, the family asks that any memorials be made to The Newton Public Library in Becky's name.
